Forest School

At Thames Tiddlers Nursery we have our own Forest School on site supported and looked after by a Forest School leader. We have children involved in a Forest School project that will span over a number of weeks depending on the amount of time spent on the project each week and the engagement of the children.

A group of pre-school children attend the local woodlands on a weekly basis for a number of weeks with the forest school lead and other educators. Various enquires have taken place such as the children creating their own potions with an element of magic and storytelling. The children have gone on bug hunts, built dens, created large scale spider webs amongst other encounters with the woodland environment.

We have also brought camping equipment for the children to use while in Forestry school. This is to be used for the children to eat their lunch and tea while in forestry school. The children wash up the equipment themselves while outside. We have also organised for an outside professional who brings in different insects and wildlife animals such as snakes, hedgehogs and other interesting insects and animals for the children to hold and discuss together. You can now see some images of this in the forestry school gallery.

"The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences over an extended period of time."    Forestry School Website
